Want to Extend Your Swimming Season in Tampa on the Cheap? Have a Solar Pool Heater Installed!

Backyard pools are a common fixture in the Tampa Bay area. If you are able to count yourself among the region’s many happy pool owners, then have you given any thought to having a solar pool heater installed? Heating your pool water by means of solar energy is an environmentally friendly practice that can lengthen your swimming season without siphoning money out of your wallet. Why let your pool sit idle during the winter months when you can heat it relatively inexpensively with solar pool heater technology? Your family will thank you for it!
The Basics of Solar Pool Heating
The way in which most solar pool heaters work is actually quite simple. The following components can be found on most systems:
SOLAR COLLECTOR
This is a roof-mounted device, similar in appearance to an electricity-generating photovoltaic solar panel, through which pool water is circulated and heated by the sun.
FILTER
A filter is required to remove any debris that is present in the pool water before it is sent to the collector.
PUMP
Circulating the water through the filter, to the collector, and back to the pool necessitates the use of a pump – possibly either the one you currently have or, in some cases, an entirely new one.
FLOW CONTROL VALVE
This device – which can be either manual or automatic – diverts pool water to the collectors whenever heating is required.
