Just how does a water softener work, exactly? The most commonly used models soften water through a process known as ion exchange. A mineral tank is first filled with a large number of negatively charged polystyrene beads, also called resin. The tank is then filled with hard water and its positively charged mineral ions. These ions cling to the beads as both are of opposite charges. Then, a very strong saltwater solution is flushed through the tank, forcing the hardness ion off the beads and whisking them away. The remaining water is now softened, and is typically held in a storage tank ready a variety of household uses, from showering to doing dishes to laundering clothing.

My experience with the team at Florida Energy Water & Air has been very positive throughout the whole process. I purchased the water treatment and air purification systems for my new home. Jack, the sales representative, did a very impressive job making the 2-hour demo fun, engaging, and interesting. I had no idea how much time had passed until it was over because he did such a great job keeping my attention. The installation was performed by Robenson a few hours later that same day! He was very professional and did a great job with the installation. I wasn’t a big fan of drilling a hole through my garage to run the water pipe, but he made the hole as small as possible and it looks like the house was built that way. He and his partner did a great job cleaning up after themselves. Finally, John was very friendly, professional, informative, and helpful during the post-installation quality inspection. Overall, it has been a very positive experience.
